Southport Memorial Library welcomes two new librarians
The Southport Memorial Library is excited to introduce two new librarians, Casey Martin and Chris Joule, who bring energy, experience, and a shared commitment to serving the Southport community. Both librarians are Southport residents, who are deeply connected to the town they now serve in new roles.
Casey Martin comes to Southport from Boothbay Region Elementary School, where she served as the school librarian. With a strong background in youth services and educational programming, Casey brings a student-focused perspective that will directly benefit the children of Southport Central School. She also brings prior public library experience and is excited to enhance the library’s collection and support its mission to meet the reading and learning needs of the entire community.
Chris Joule, a familiar face to many, has worked behind the scenes for the past decade as the library’s cataloger. Now stepping into a broader role as librarian, Chris offers deep knowledge of the library’s collection and a long-standing dedication to its mission. Her transition into this expanded position reflects her commitment to both the library and the people it serves.
Together, Casey and Chris are excited to help guide the Southport Memorial Library into its next chapter.
More than just a place to borrow books, the Southport Memorial Library serves as a vital community center — a gathering place for residents of all ages. It offers programming for children and adults, access to technology, quiet space for reading and study, and a welcoming atmosphere for conversation and connection. As the library of Southport Central School, it also plays a key role in supporting local education, offering resources that enrich the curriculum and encourage lifelong learning.
With Casey and Chris at the helm, the library is well-positioned to maintain its role as both an educational partner and beloved community space. The Southport Memorial Library invites all residents to stop by, meet the new librarians, borrow a book, and explore the many ways the library enriches our community.
